Overview
The notion of the state as a sovereign actor is being challenged by global and regional integration, and national fragmentation; processes, which may undermine the state?s capacity to govern. Global governance implies a need to govern, make decisions and act collectively given the rise in global challenges, such as war, injustice, poverty, development, crime, terrorism, and environmental degradation. The module explores the opportunities for and effectiveness of global governance, including international organisations. The study of global governance is highly relevant to all as ?citizens of the world?.
